Clinical Practice

Professor Prelevic has over 40 years of experience as a consultant in Endocrinology.

Before proceeding to sabbatical leave and moving to the UK in early 1990s she established the first dedicated Menopause Clinic in former Yugoslavia. She also established a tertiary Reproductive Endocrine Clinic which attracted referrals from all over former Yugoslavia.

Until her retirement from the Royal Free Hospital and the Whittington Hospital in 2015 her weekly clinical commitments included two Reproductive Endocrine Clinics, one dedicated Menopause Clinic and one Endocrine/Osteoporosis Clinic. Professor Prelevic currently runs three clinics weekly in her private practice.

In her clinics Profesor Prelevic see women with wide range of hormonal disorders including absent and/or irregular periods, premenstrual syndrome, unwanted hair growth (hirsutism), hyperprolactinaemia, infertility as well as thyroid disorders particularly those who are trying to become pregnant.

She has long standing and extensive clinical expertise in clinical management of the polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Dr Prelevic has pioneered the use of anti-androgen therapy and Metformin for PCOS.

A significant proportion of her clinical practice is management of peri- and post-menopausal women, giving them advice on the risks and benefits of various HRT preparations and individually tailoring and monitoring their use.

For many years she has had a special interest in providing young women with premature menopause with comprehensive advice regarding fertility and estrogen deficiency.

Professor Prelevic consults to men as well as women with osteoporosis, hyperparathyroidism and thyroid disorders.
